I was lucky enough to get a ticket to a birthday picnic for the Queen's 90th. Tables lined the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace and ten thousand guests watched a parade and ate from little matching picnic baskets.
As you'd expect it was raining torrentially on the morning of the event and it hung around long enough to mess up all of the guest's outfits. Luckily the rain cleared just in time for the lunch to start.
The Queen and many other members of the royal family were there and drove down the parade route. The Queen later gave a speech with some great jokes.
